How to Kill Mold with Vinegar

Bathroom Mold          Bathroom mold is a big issue in many parts of the country where the humidity is high. Mold can come in various colors such as green, black, and pink. It can cause different health problems such as aggravating asthma, coughing, minor flu like symptoms, and post nasal drip. Vinegar has a high acidity level and kills mold fungus naturally. Use these steps to rid your house of mold easily.





Step 1

Kill Mold with VinegarPurchase any type of distilled white vinegar. You can find this at your regular supermarket. It doesn’t matter which brand just make sure it doesn’t have any unnecessary additives in it. The purer the vinegar the easier it will kill the mold.



Step 2

Mildew Removal Spray BottlePurchase a plastic spray bottle. We will get to killing the mold in a bit. Make sure the bottle is not one of those small bottles. You can buy these bottles in home improvement stores.









Step 3

Fill about one quarter of the spray bottle with your vinegar. Fill the rest of the bottle up with water. You may use regular tap water or distilled water. Shake the bottle back and forth to mix up the vinegar with water.



Step 4

Spray a large amount of the mold killing solution anywhere you see mold. Use a couple of squirts on each mold spot. Then use a dry sponge to rub the solution into the mold to help kill the fungus faster.



Step 5

Dehumidifier for moldInstall a portable dehumidifier in the room where most of the mold was found. Usually this is the bathroom in most homes. Mold will not survive in a dry climate. The fungus cannot reproduce with its spores if the humidity is too low. Try to keep the humidity levels in the bathroom below 40% all the time.



Step 6

Repeat steps 3 and 4 one more time a few days later to kill the remaining mold.

 

Additional Advice

                   Vinegar will have a strong smell to it when you spray it around. Don’t worry the smell will fade in a few days to a week.

                   Keep your house ventilated to prevent future mold outbreaks.
