A juice diet fast is a method of dieting that can be considered a type of crash diet. Juice diets usually last only a short period of time such as a few weeks. Juice fasts are more for cleansing and can last one week or so. Juice dieting generally consists of removing solid food from your diet including solid proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. You replace this solid food with liquid juice which provides fructose sugars, vitamins, and energy to keep your going while at the same time minimizing the number of calories you consume so that you lose weight. Follow the steps below to perform a juice diet.
Spend the first week transitioning slowly off of your solid foods. Your juice diet will begin by slowly removing food items from your daily eating. This is done so as not to shock your body by instantly losing all those calories. Give your body some time to adapt to the juice fast. An example of this would be the first day eliminating red meats from your diet, removing chicken the third day, removing seafood the 4th day, removing dairy products on the 5th day and stopping all remaining solid foods by the 7th day. The main point here is to slowly transition your body off of solid foods at the beginning of the juice fast.
After this first week, start drinking 8 to 12 glasses of juice per day slowly all throughout the day. These juices should be a combination of many different types of fruit. This includes apples, oranges, grapes, tangerines, watermelon, and others. This is the main component of your juice fast.
It is also safe to integrate juiced vegetables in with your fruit juice. This includes carrot juice, celery, spinach and any other juiceable veggie. You should mix these with your juiced fruits for your juice fast.
Get a juicing machine so that you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables and juice them yourself. This way you can easily mix your vegetable juice with your fruit juices. This will add variety to your juice diet and give your body’s cells a more diverse nutrient base to work with.
Drink plenty of water during your juice fast as well. Water will aid in the detoxification process your body will be going through while on your juice diet.
Once your juice fast or diet is over, start slowly transitioning back to eating solid foods again. Start off slowly introducing carbohydrates and fats into your diet. Then bring back in proteins. Within one week after your juice fast is over you should be back to eating all the solid foods.
During your juice fast you may feel dizzy, get headaches, and feel faint. If these symptoms become bothersome you may want to add one meal per day to your juice fast. This is a less strict version of the juice fast that allows you one solid meal in addition to your juices per day. You should still lose weight with this version of the diet.
