How to Cure Lower Back Pain

Lower back pain is a common condition that affects many Americans. Lower back pain can be recurrent and chronic. Lower back pain can be caused by many different things such as back muscle trauma, overuse, slipped disks, trying to lift a heavy item, and others. Lower back pain does not have to put a stop to your daily activities. There are many ways to reduce lower back pain, and restore a somewhat normal life. Follow the steps below to help reduce or cure your lower back pain.

Step 1

Excercise weights Do reverse crunches at the gym. One of the best ways to cure lower back ailments is to exercise the area and increase blood flow. One of the reasons that the lower back muscles always have issues is because they are a thin muscle area and yet have to support a lot of weight. Thus the lower back muscle is easily sprained and overused. The best way to prevent this from happening is to weight train the lower back muscle as you would biceps or chest at the gym.

Step 2

See a massage therapist regularly. A masseuse will massage the lower back muscles increasing blood flow to the area and stretching the muscles. This will help the muscles heal and reduce chronic lower back pain.

Step 3

If your lower back pain is caused by an acute muscle sprain then the best way to cure it is to take some over the counter pain killers such as aspirin while resting the back and not putting pressure on it. You may have to give the injury a few days to heal itself. This means bed rest and reduced movement.

Step 4

Try a heating pad on your lower back. A heating pad will heat the muscles and soothe your lower back pain. Heat accelerates healing in the body and can help put you on the path to recovery.

Step 5

Yoga matStart a yoga routine. Yoga stretches all of the body’s muscles and ligaments. Poses such as downward facing dog and child’s pose are fantastic lower back stretches. A few months of yoga can make a world of difference in your chronic lower back pain.
