Fight and Cure Gingivitis

Gingivitis is a disease of the gums that afflicts many people throughout the world without them even knowing. Gingivitis is characterized by inflammation of the gum tissue that can be caused by plaque from the teeth and bacteria that has been left in an area for a long period of time. Gingivitis can lead to localized gum pain and tenderness as well as swelling and bad breath. Follow these steps to treat and cure your gingivitis.

Step 1

Antibacterial MouthwashStart using an antibacterial mouthwash two to three times daily. There are many mouthwash products on the market that can accomplish this. The active ingredient of the mouthwash will kill the germs that cause gingivitis. Gargling with this several times a day is the best way to prevent the disease from happening in the first place as well as to treat it.

Step 2

Switch to an electric toothbrush and brush at least twice a day with toothpaste that specifically fights plaque. Electric toothbrushes have been shown to remove up to 40% more plaque than regular brushes. Eliminating plaque around the gumline has been shown to help prevent gingivitis and help reverse the disease.

Step 3

FlossFloss twice daily. Use floss that is coated with fluoride. Flossing dislodges food and plaque between the teeth. This plaque is one of the culprits that causes gingivitis. Flossing will help to reverse the disease.

Step 4

If after implementing these steps for 6 months you still have the disease, then your medical professional may be able to offer medical treatment for your condition. This includes but is not limited to surgical removal of the affected, diseased gum tissue.
