Soothe Strep and Sore Throat

Soothe Sore and Strep Throat           Strep throat is a condition that should be treated by a physician. It is a bacterial infection that needs antibiotics to resolve. But it does share many of the symptoms as a sore throat. Both conditions are characterized by a very raw, itchy throat. Other symptoms include pain and difficulty swallowing, blocked sinuses, and temporary loss of the sense of smell. Follow these steps to help soothe a sore throat.

Step 1

Soothing Chamomile TeaTry a soothing chamomile tea. Chamomile tea has anti inflammatory properties to soothe a sore throat. Chamomile tea is also used to foster relaxation and reduce stress.

Step 2

Try sucking on cough drops throughout the day. Buy some cough drops containing menthol. Menthol is another anti inflammatory compound derived from peppermint that will help soothe your sore throat.

Step 3

Breathe through your nose instead of your mouth during the day. Breathing through your mouth will only aggravate your sore throat and make it much, much worse. As the air passes down the throat tissue it dries out the membranes and makes the sore throat worse.

Step 4

Drink more water for sore throatDrink as many fluids, namely water, as you can for as long as you have the sore throat. The liquids will add moisture to your sore throat and reduce the dryness which contributes to the sore feeling.

Step 5

No fan for sore throatClose all windows when you sleep at night and shut off any fans. The combination of the colder air from the outside with the forced air from the fan will only dry out your sore throat even more. Make sure the room you sleep in at night is at a very warm temperature.
